1 Notice of Recording

 

Lord Mayor to advise that this meeting will be webcast for live or subsequent broadcast via the Council's Public-I microsite (please click this linkand that members of the press/public may record and take photographs except where there are confidential or exempt items.

2 Declarations of Interests

 

Members are reminded they must declare all relevant pecuniary and other registerable interests arising from any business to be discussed at this meeting.

 

If a disclosable pecuniary interest is declared a Member must not participate in any discussion or vote on the matter and must not remain in the room unless they have been granted a dispensation.

 

If other registerable interests are declared a Member may speak on the matter only if members of the public are allowed to speak at the meeting but otherwise must not take part in any discussion or vote on the matter and must not remain in the room unless they have been granted a dispensation.    

 

If it is a ‘sensitive interest’, Members do not have to disclose the nature of the interest, just that they have an interest.

"That City Council notes that Clifton Welch (CON) has been confirmed as the elected member for the Kingstanding ward following the completion of the by election held on 30 May 2024."

To note the appointment of Joanne Roney as Managing Director (Head of Paid Service) of Birmingham City Council on a permanent basis.

To consider how the outcome of the Kingstanding by-election and resignation of Councillors Alex Aitken and Kirsten Kurt-Elli, from the Council, affects the political proportionality rules introduced by the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

 

Councillor John Cotton to move the following recommendations:

 

"

1.That the updated proportionality calculations, including changes to aggregate entitlement, set out in Appendix 1 be noted.

 

2.That the appointments made by City Council on 21 May 2024, set out in Appendix 2, be noted.

 

3. That, in view of the changes to aggregate entitlement, the following amendments to committee appointments be made: (a) Labour to give up a seat, to the Conservatives, on Planning Committee; and (b) Labour to give up a seat, to the Liberal Democrats, on Licensing and Public Protection Committee".
