Overview and Scrutiny Committees have responsibility for scrutinising and reviewing the performance of the Council as a whole. They assist in strategic policy development, drive improvement in public services and enable the voice of the public to be heard. In addition to undertaking inquiries they have the power to 'call in' a decision of the Executive and to ask for it to be reviewed. A decision of the Executive cannot be implemented until the 'call in' process has been completed.
