Councillor Majid Mahmood to move the following recommendations:
"That City Council:
1. Notes the progress and achievements made in the last 12 months both on the route to zero carbon programme and wider Council and city decarbonisation activities.
2. Notes the progress and achievements made in the last 12 months to improve Birmingham’s adaptation capacity and climate resilience.
3. Notes that Birmingham’s greenhouse gas territorial emissions (the city’s emissions) using the UK local authority and regional greenhouse gas emissions national statistics –were 4,061 ktCO2e, in 2023 (most recent data available), down 44.6% since 2005 and 3.8% from 2022. 4,480 ktCO2e.
4. Notes the results of accounting of Birmingham City Council’s own emissions, calculated using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol reporting standards. Birmingham City Council’s scope 1 & 2 emissions for the 2024/25 financial year were calculated as 41,000 tCO2e."
