The Council’s Housing Strategy gives a commitment to tackle issues within the private rented sector market to ensure that tenants live in good homes and neighbourhoods. S.80 the Housing Act 2004 allows a local authority to designate the whole or any part of its are a subject to selective licensing scheme. Introducing such a scheme would mean that all private rented accommodation in the designated areas which is let or occupied would require to be licensed.
There has been a review of the wards against the conditions for selective licensing. This report is an update about the wards that will be considered for the selective licensing scheme that the city is considering implementing.
