To approve the commencement of a procurement process and expenditure for demolition and site investigation works to be undertaken on the former Wholesale Market and adjacent land owned by the Council. This will enable the efficient management and utilisation of the Council’s assets in relation to the remaining parts of the former Wholesale Markets site and adjacent land, which supports the creation of resilient and sustainable property portfolio that enables the provision of modern 21st century Council services and transformation change.

Key Decisions
The report seeks to gain authority for the procurement strategy and funding to enable the demolition and site investigation works on the former Wholesale Market site located at Pershore Street and adjacent land owned by the council. This will require a capital spend in excess of £1m and will bring significant benefits to the Bordesley and Highgate Ward and the city of Birmingham as a whole.
