Decision Details

To seek approval for the Full Business Case and the grant award for the roof replacement and structural remedial works at Wattville Primary School, which will transfer to Oasis Community Learning, part of Oasis Charitable Trust, following an Academy Conversion process. The capital cost of the works is £604,000. There is no cost to the council’s general fund because of these works because they will be funded from the Local Authority’s Schools Condition Allocation Grant.

On the 13 December 2024, the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People & Families;

(i) Approved the project cost for the roof replacement and structural remedial works at Wattville Primary School for the value of £604,000;

(ii) Approved the award of a grant to fund the capital works via a Condition of Grant Aid (COGA), which will be put in place between the Council and Oasis Community Learning Trust. This will outline responsibility for delivering the scheme within the agreed budget, scope and timescale. The Council will only fund the amount that has been agreed. Payment will be made upon evidence of works being completed. 

(iii) Noted that, the works will take place at the school following conversion to Academy status.

(iv) Noted that Wattville Primary School is proposing to convert to Academy status on or after 1st January 2025 and that Wattville Primary School will be a Sponsored Academy under Oasis Community Learning.

(v) Authorised the Interim City Solicitor & Monitoring Officer to complete all necessary documents to give effect to the above recommendations.
