Purpose

Birmingham City Council has collaborated with partners to produce a cross-city strategy to tackle domestic abuse and improve outcomes for survivors. This builds upon the previous strategy, the Domestic Abuse Prevention Strategy 2018-23. Development of the strategy has been led by the Domestic Abuse Local Strategic Partnership Board, with extensive consultation with survivors, specialist domestic abuse providers and citizens of Birmingham. Collectively, using a whole system approach, we are committed to tackling domestic abuse and striving to make our city a place where domestic abuse is not tolerated.

 

The Council has a statutory duty to prepare, publish and monitor a domestic abuse strategy as part of our duties under Part 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

 

Cabinet is asked to approve and adopt Birmingham’s Domestic Abuse Prevention Strategy 2024+.
