Purpose

The Council is seeking to establish a three-year contract with the option to extend for a further two years. The contract will take the form of this specification and organisations are invited to tender against it. The contract shall come into effect on 17 January 2024 and shall continue for a period of three-years with the option to extend for a further two years as required.

The Council is seeking a Contractor for the processing of approximately 32,000 tonnes of Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) waste per annum as collected by the Council (2021/22). The Contractor shall develop processes manage, contract, and sell Recyclables.

On 5 September 2023, Cabinet:-

 

(i) Authorised the Strategic Director of City Operations to enter into a three-year (3) Agreement with Veolia Environmental Services (UK) PLC (Veolia) for the Processing of Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) commencing 17 January 2024;

 

(ii) Authorised that the Strategic Director, City Operations in conjunction with the Director, Street Scene will agree any option to extend for up to two (2) years subject to satisfactory performance and budget availability;

 

(iii) Authorised the City Solicitor and Monitoring Officer (or their delegate) to execute, seal and complete all necessary documentation to give effect to the above recommendations.
