On 23 September 2025, Cabinet Committee – Property:-
(i) Authorised the Assistant Director for Corporate Landlord to conclude an unconditional freehold sale of the surplus Council owned property to the proposed purchaser as detailed in Exempt Appendices 2, 3 and 4, to the report, relating to:-
3.1.1 The sale of property asset known as the ‘Café’ Block, 36-41 Vyse St & 2,4 & 6 Hylton St, Birmingham B18 6JY;
(ii) Authorised the Assistant Director for Corporate Landlord to revert to the under bidders in the event of a failure to complete and conclude a sale to an underbidder on the best available terms subject to the Council’s duties under Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972;
(iii) Authorised the City Solicitor to prepare, negotiate, execute and complete all relevant legal documentation to give effect to the above decisions.
THE DEADLINE FOR CALL IN IS 1600 HOURS ON MONDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2025.
On the 26 September 2025 at 1102 hours, a request for call-in was submitted by Councillors Ken Wood and Alex Yip. No action can be taken to implement the above decision until the request for call-in has been approved by the Director of Law and Governance (Monitoring Officer), in consultation with the Chair of Corporate and Finance Overview and Scrutiny Committee. If approved, the decision will then be considered by the relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committee within 15 days of the decision being posted.
