On 21 July 2026 the Cabinet
Member for Children, Young People and Families:
1. Approved
the total project costs and spend funded from the School Condition Allocation
grant for boiler replacement works at St Benedict’s Primary School of £443,101
which is broken down as follows:
• £424,164 (inclusive of a contingency of £70,370) for contractor
costs to be paid to Speller Metcalfe Limited;
• £6,031 for professional fees; and
• £12,906 for Education Infrastructure Capitalisation fees
2. Approved
the Full Business Case appended to the report at Appendix A.
3. Approved
the award of a contract to Speller Metcalfe Limited for the value of £353,794
(plus a £70,370 contingency), forming part of the total project cost set out in
paragraph 3.1, commencing in July 2026 for a period of 16 weeks, as referenced
in section 4.7.
4. Noted that
any VAT attributable to the costs payable by the Local Authority is reclaimable
under Section 33 of the VAT Act 1994.
5. Authorised
the City Solicitor (or their delegate) to take all necessary steps to give
effect to the above recommendations.
