Purpose

To seek approval of £745K capital allocation to procure new and upgraded CCTV cameras to the City Centre to support the management of the City, enhance the safety of the Public, provide vital evidence of crimes and civil matters and support the delivery of high profile and international events in a safe and secure environment.

On 14 December 2021, Cabinet:-

(i)       approved the installation of 20 new and 30 upgraded CCTV cameras at a cost of £745,000;

(ii)      approved the purchase and installation of 4 additional cameras utilising the service revenue budget and for these cameras to be located in the Southside BID area;

(iii)     delegated authority to the Director for City Operations, the Assistant Director Corporate Procurement or their delegate, in conjunction with the Director of Council Management or their delegate, and the City Solicitor or their delegate to approve any procurement strategies and subsequent contract award decisions required to support the implementation of the recommendations within the report.
