Purpose
This report seeks Cabinet approval for the interim transfer of £750,000 from Birmingham City Council (the “City Council”) to the Highbury Trust, as part of the consideration for the long lease of Chamberlain House, currently occupied by Uffculme School.

On 11 November 2025 Cabinet:-

(i) Approved the interim payment of £750,000 to Highbury Trust in respect of Chamberlain House (Uffculme School), as part of the consideration for the proposed 125-year lease;

(ii) Noted that this payment is non-refundable and reflects the original premium agreed in 2014; and

(iii) Noted that further negotiations will take place to determine the final sale price and any additional payments required to reflect the time elapsed and that responsibility for this will be delegated to the Executive Director of Finance and Section 151 Officer.
