Purpose

To provide evidence of the need to implement an Additional Licensing Scheme in Birmingham.  This scheme will require all non-mandatory (less than 5 person occupancy) Houses in Multiple Occupation to be licenced.

To ask for approval to formally consult on the proposed Additional Licensing Scheme.

On 28 June 2022, Cabinet:-

(i)       Agreed that the conditions for additional licensing are met and that consultation should take place regarding the proposed introduction of an additional licensing scheme across all sixty-nine of the City’s Wards;

(ii)      agreed that. following the outcome of the consultation, a further report be submitted to Cabinet providing a detailed analysis of the feedback received during the consultation process and making further recommendations as appropriate.
