Purpose
This report seeks Cabinet Member approval to transfer (gift) two items of Public Art to two separate organisations who have offered to permanently display and maintain the objects on their respective sites. The artefacts are ‘Birmingham Forward’ metal sculpture artwork by Birmingham artist Luke Perry to Aston University and, a portrait painting of Norman Chamberlain to The Chamberlain Highbury Trust for display at Highbury Hall.

On the 13 March 2026, the Cabinet Member for Digital, Culture, Heritage and Tourism;

 

(i) Noted the content of this report.

(ii) Approved the transfer (gift) of Luke Perry’s ‘Birmingham Forward’ metal sculpture artwork to Aston University for permanent display at its city centre campus.

(iii) Approved the transfer (gift) of the Norman Chamberlain portrait painting to The Chamberlain Highbury Trust for permanent display at Highbury Hall; and

(iv) Authorised the City Solicitor to negotiate, execute, complete and seal all necessary documents to give effect to the above decisions.
