On 28 April 2026 Cabinet:-

 

(i)             Accepted the role as the initial accountable body for the Pride in Place Programme for the Handsworth West area, as it has for the other eight Pride in Place areas in Birmingham;

 

(ii)            Approved the acceptance of Pride in Place Programme funding for the Handsworth West Pride in Place area for the first four-year investment period, which is £6.13 million (including £2.42 million revenue) for 2026/27 to 2029/30, and the £150,000 revenue capacity funding;

 

(iii)          Delegated authority to the Deputy Chief Executive to take all decisions necessary for the Council to discharge its accountable body responsibilities for the Handsworth West area, including supporting the Neighbourhood Board and managing, administering and allocating Programme funds;

 

(iv)          Authorised the Deputy Chief Executive to approve the allocation of Programme funding on the behalf of the Handsworth West Neighbourhood Board, or the Chair in the period ahead of the creation of Neighbourhood Board, in compliance with Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) guidance and the Council’s constitution; and

 

(v)           Authorised the City Solicitor (or their authorised delegate) to prepare, complete and execute any legal documentation necessary to give effect to the above decisions.
