On 22 July 2025 Cabinet:-
(i) Approved the project costs for the new build Resource Base at Tile Cross Academy at a total project cost of up to £1,656,740 (inclusive of a £126,822 contingency). The project will be funded from the DfE High Needs Provision Capital Allocation Grant, no General Fund will be used;
(ii) Approved the Full Business Case appended to this report;
(iii) Approved the award of a grant to fund the capital works via a Condition of Grant Aid (COGA), which will be put in place between the Council and Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust. This will outline responsibility for delivering the scheme within the agreed budget and timescale. The Council will only fund the amount that has been agreed. Payment will be made upon evidence of works being completed;
(iv) Approved the grant up to the sum of £1,656,740 for the extension works at Tile Cross Academy, part of Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust enabling the school to take on additional 30 secondary aged SEN pupils; and
(v) Authorised the Director of Law & Governance/Monitoring Officer to complete all necessary documents to give effect to the above decisions.
