Purpose

Full Business Case and Contract Award for Beaufort School - Expansion project. Works comprise of construction of 6 news classrooms, a separate entrance area and increasing dining capacity and leadership office space.

To seek approval for the new build expansion project at Beaufort School and to award the main works contract.

On 9 December 2025 Cabinet:-

(i)    Approved the project costs for the new build expansion works at Beaufort School at a total project cost not to exceed £7,072,398;

(ii)   Approved the Full Business Case (Appendix A) to the report; 

(iii)  Noted that a Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) has been entered into with Seddon Construction Limited for the initial feasibility and design stage, which is currently underway for the value of up to £450,914 and approved under Cabinet Member authority on 19th September 2025;

(iv)  Delegated authority to the Director of Children and Families in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance (Section 151 Officer) and the City Solicitor (Monitoring Officer), (or their delegates) to award a contract for the new build expansion works to Seddon Construction Limited, once actual costs are confirmed; and

(v)   Authorised the City Solicitor (Monitoring Officer) to execute and complete all necessary documents to give effect to the above decisions.
